Nay Pyi Taw Market Inspection, Price Regulation, and Effective Inspection on Unfair Profiteering Committee held a work coordination meeting at the Nay Pyi Taw Council Office on January 9.

Committee Chairman Nay Pyi Taw Council member U Zeyar Lin tressed the need to control commodity prices and ensure fair pricing between producers and consumers, with focus on rice and rice products. He called on traders, brokers, mill owners and market operators to regulate the trading chain in the public interest.

He also emphasized monitoring seasonal crops, strengthening links with MSME entrepreneurs to promote value-added agro-based industries. He noted that developing agriculture and livestock based industries would help reduce imports and foreign exchange use, supporting long-term economic growth.

The Committee members and officials later reported on market inspections and price regulation activities. The Committee chairman then coordinated the necessary measures. The committee was formed to oversee trading chains, regulate prices and prevent unfair profiteering across regions.
