Flag-Hoisting and Reading Message: The ceremony held Regions, States, and SAZs

On the morning of January 4, flag-hoisting ceremonies and state flag salutation ceremonies for the 2026 78th Anniversary Independence Day  were held respectively in Regions, States, and Self-Administered Zones.

At 4:20 AM, the 78th Anniversary Independence Day National flag-hoisting ceremony was held. The honor guard raised the National flag, and paid salute to it together with departmental officials and ethnic nationalities. Subsequently, at 7 AM, the National flag salutation ceremony was held.

The respective Region/State Chief Ministers and region/state security and border affairs ministers, Chairman of Sub State Administrative Body, Chair of self-administered Administrative Body received the salute from the honor guard. Together with the honor guard and attendees, they saluted the National flag, and the honor guard paid tribute to the fallen leaders and comrades, reciting the fourfold oath.

Afterwards, the 78th Anniversary Independence Day message sent by the Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, Senior General Thadoe Maha Thray Sithu  Thadoe Thiri Thudhamma Min Aung Hlaing to the 78th Anniversary Independence Day, was read out by the respective Region/State Chief Ministers, region/state security and border affairs ministers and Chairs of Self-Administered Zones Administrative Bodies.
