Ceremonies to hoist and salute the State Flag to mark the 78th Independence Day were held in Nay Pyi Taw on 4th of January. The flag-hoisting platoon raised the State Flag at 4:20 am together with the ethnic groups.

The ceremony was organized with four national objectives of the 78th Anniversary of Independence Day - Non-disintegration of the Union, non-disintegration of national solidarity, and perpetuation of sovereignty are the most essential and appropriate national aspirations and national duties, requiring all citizens to preserve and safeguard them.

To strive for national solidarity and union peace in order to achieve sustainable, balanced development. To fully implement a genuine, disciplined multi-party democracy system by utilizing freedom and justice in accordance with laws, rules, and regulations. To promote Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) based on regional natural products and to develop other economic sectors.

During the flag saluting ceremony, the Guard of Honour (Tatmadaw Army, Navy and Air) marched to the City Square where Chairman of 78th Anniversary of Independence Day Organizing Central Committee Prime Minister U Nyo Saw took the salute from the dais.

He then saluted the State Flag together with the Guard of Honour and attendees to the event. The Guard of Honour also saluted the nation’s fallen leaders and soldiers and took the four-point oath. This was followed by reading of the message sent by the Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, Senior General Thadoe Maha Thray Sithu and Thadoe Thiri Thudhamma Min Aung Hlaing to the 78th Anniversary Independence Day.
