



Welcoming and honoring the 78th Independence Day, the concrete road opening ceremony of Shwe Taung Tan Road (between Anawrahta Road and Maha Bandula Road), Lanmadaw Township, Yangon Region, was held on Saturday morning.
Attendees included Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, region government members, officials from the Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC), departmental officials, students, residents, and responsible personnel. First, Yangon Region Minister for Transport and Communications U Kyaw Kyaw Soe, delivered a speech.
Then, Region Transport and Communications Minister, U Kyaw Kyaw Soe, Deputy Director General and Head of the Engineering Department (Roads and Bridges) of YCDC, U Lin Khine, Chairman of the Kyauktada Township Management and Administration Committee, U Okka and other officials cut the ribbon to open the concrete road. Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein presented honorary awards and cash prizes to the Drum and Bugle Corps.
After that, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and officials inspected the Shwe Taung Tan concrete road between Anawrahta Road and Mahabandula Road and cordially greeted the attendees. The Yangon City Development Committee has been repairing and upgrading roads according to financial years.
In the 2025-2026 financial year, the original road surface of Shwe Taung Tan Road in Lanmadaw Township (between Anawrahta Road and Mahabandula Road) is a asphalt-concrete road and since the road usage period has been long, the road length is 830 feet, the vehicle lane width is 42 feet, and on one side of the road there is a 15-foot-wide parking area that can accommodate 153 vehicles, it’s reported.
