Zelenskyy says restoring prisoner exchanges one of main priorities

Ukraine is starting the New Year with active diplomacy and intensified engagement with international partners, said President of Ukraine Zelenskyy. 

Zelenskyy reported that Defense Minister Rustem Umerov is holding talks in Türkiye, where the main focus is on restoring prisoner exchanges. He noted that exchanges slowed toward the end of last year and at the same time, Umerov remains in constant contact with the US team and European partners.

The President also announced a series of key international meetings to be held in Ukraine in the coming days. On January 3, national security advisers from 15 countries, as well as representatives of the EU and NATO, will meet to discuss peace efforts. On January 5, Chiefs of the General Staff will hold a separate meeting, with security guarantees for Ukraine as the central issue.
