Olive harvesting continues in Ayvalik, a district of Balikesir, Turkiye

Olive harvesting continues into January in Ayvalik, a district of Balikesir and one of Turkiye’s leading olive production centers. This winter harvest season is not only supporting agriculture but also bringing new vitality to tourism in the region.

 Specially organized olive harvest tours allow visitors to take part in the entire process, from picking olives directly from the branches to witnessing the olive oil pressing. Guests collect olives in the groves located on the slopes of Kaz Mountains and experience traditional harvesting methods firsthand.

After gathering their olives, participants visit olive oil mills to observe the pressing process and see how freshly harvested olives are turned into olive oil. These agriculture and tourism activities have drawn significant interest, particularly from visitors traveling from outside the region.
