The 46th meeting of the Fertilizer Committee was held at the meeting hall of the Union Minister’s Office, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation in Nay Pyi Taw on December 30.
At the meeting, the Chairman of the Fertilizer Committee, Deputy Minister Dr. Tin Htut, discussed that the Fertilizer Committee has been supervising the registration of fertilizer production and import permits in accordance with the Fertilizer Law and its bylaws. He noted that to ensure the timely distribution of required fertilizers for the 2025-2026 monsoon paddy and monsoon crops under agricultural projects implemented using the National Economic Promotion Fund, regional and state inspection teams have taken samples and conducted pre-testing for quality assurance of chemical fertilizers. Similarly, for the distribution of urea and compound fertilizers for non-project crop cultivation, regional and state inspectors are conducting laboratory tests to verify quality, and the volume of such testing needs to be increased, among other remarks.
Following this, the Committee Secretary presented the agenda items for discussion and decision at the meeting, which were then reviewed and deliberated upon by Fertilizer Committee members and fertilizer experts from relevant sectors.
The Fertilizer Committee systematically reviews and issues fertilizer registrations to enable farmers to use quality fertilizers promptly and simultaneously, thereby enhancing agricultural production and ensuring national food security and surplus. Up to the 45th meeting of the Fertilizer Committee, a total of 13,182 registration certificates had been approved. Of these, 2,307 certificates were revoked upon request by the applicants, and 2,929 certificates were canceled by the department due to expiration. Therefore, as of this day, 7,946 registration certificates remain active, it’s reported.
