Pope Leo XIV’s first message for the World Day of Peace

On Thursday morning, Pope Leo first message for the World Day of Peace was presented at Vatican Press Office. ‘Peace be with you all: towards an unarmed and disarming peace’ is the theme of Pope’s Message for the 59th World Day of Peace, on January 1st, 2026.

The Pontiff’s message reiterated the church’s ‘opposition to deterrence based on military force and condemns the irrationality of relations between nations based on fear and domination by force, instead of being based on law, justice, and trust’.
