Marco participated in a Status of Forces Agreement signing ceremony

U.S. Secretary of State Marco A. Rubio participated in a Status of Forces Agreement signing ceremony with Paraguayan Foreign Minister Rubén Ramírez Lezcano at the Department of State on December 15.

He stressed that the greatest threat in the Western Hemisphere comes from transnational criminal and terrorist networks that undermine regional stability and security. Rubio said the agreement formalizes an existing partnership and enables closer cooperation through joint training, intelligence sharing, equipment transfers, and coordinated operations, while fully respecting Paraguay’s sovereignty.

He added that the agreement will also enhance the ability of both countries to respond quickly to humanitarian crises and natural disasters.
