The Egyptian ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in collaboration with a German–Egyptian archaeological mission led by Hourig Sourouzian, re-erect two monumental alabaster statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III at the Third Pylon of his mortuary temple in Qurna on Luxor's West Bank.

This restoration is part of a long-term project to preserve the Colossi of Memnon and the mortuary temple of King Amenhotep III, launched in 1998 through a collaboration between Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities and the German Archaeological Institute in Cairo.
