US troops killed in assault in Syria, Trump vows retaliation

The US military says two US soldiers and one civilian interpreter were killed after being assaulted by a gunman in central Syria.

They said it occurred while the US service members were supporting counter-terrorism operations in Palmyra. They also said three others were injured, and that the gunman was killed.
