Terrorist Attack : Yay Phyu Town in Tanintharyi Region under attack

KNU and PDF terrorists attacked Yay Phyu Town in Tanintharyi Region on Saturday, setting fire to government buildings, staff housing, and residents homes.

At around 9:50 a.m., the terrorist groups fired heavy and small weapons at the Yay Phyu Myo Ma Police Station from the north, while also attacking security forces in the south and near the bridge to block reinforcements. Security forces returned fire, and additional support was provided from the southeast of the town. By about 12:30 p.m., the terrorists withdrew toward the north.

While retreating, the terrorists burned down several buildings along their route, including the General Administration Office, Forest Department office, joint departmental offices, public hospital, bank, and staff housing. No security personnel were reported injured.

Casualties among civilians and staff are still being assessed. The fires destroyed office buildings, furniture, and important documents. Security forces and local residents are carrying out firefighting and security operations, and security forces are continuing the area security measures.
