Immersive Flowers Festival : Flowers Festival at National Kandawgyi Gardens

The 18th Flower Festival at the National Kandawgyi Gardens in Pyin Oo Lwin opened on December 6.

The opening ceremony was attended by member of the State Security and Peace Commission Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, Union Minister for Transport and Communication U Mya Tun Oo,  Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung, Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi, Union Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than, Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Myo Thein Kyaw, Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant, the Chairman of the Union Civil Service Board, Mandalay Region Chief Minister, senior military officers and their wives, departmental personnel, officials and invited guests.

The festival aims to honor the long history of the garden, promote knowledge of botany, support tourism and local economic development, and give visitors a relaxing, enjoyable experience. The National Kandawgyi Garden, first established in 1924 as the Maymyo Botanical Garden, celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2024.

This year’s festival, titled “Immersive Flowers Festival,” features over 200,000 seasonal flowers and around 40 flower species as well as large, colorful display gardens suitable for sightseeing and photography. The 18th Flower Festival will run from December 6, 2025 to January 4, 2026, and Pyin Oo Lwin is expected to be crowded with visitors enjoying the festival and other local attractions.
