Seed Production Research: MoALI UM inspected seed production research

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung inspected seed production research activities at the Doe Kwin Garden in Pyin Oo Lwin on the afternoon of December 2. The Director-General of the Agriculture Department and the garden in-charge explained and presented the activities.

The Union Minister observed and inspected the research status of various flower varieties being cultivated for seed production and research, including dendrobium orchids, Maymyo flowers, jasmine, dahlias, and daisies. He instructed the responsible officials to strive to increase the annual production of technology and seed distribution activities so that the new flower varieties developed through research can be cultivated by farmers in and around the Pyin Oo Lwin area.

It is learned that, in accordance with the guidance provided during the visit of Head of State to Pyin Oo Lwin in 2023 for developing the city into a "Flower City," research is being conducted on flower varieties suitable for the local climate and soil, such as Maymyo flowers and roses.

The aim is to produce diverse colors and bloom types, and activities like cross-breeding between local varieties, as well as hybridizing collected local varieties with foreign varieties, are being carried out to secure both domestic and international markets.
