







A Reading Promotion Festival, organized with the aim of enhancing literary culture and encouraging the habit of reading, was held on the morning of December 2 at the Basic Education High School No. (1), Zeyathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory. Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman and Chairman of the Coordination Committee for the Development of Nay Pyi Taw Libraries, U Than Tun Oo, attended and delivered the opening remarks.
To begin the event, Chairman U Than Tun Oo and responsible officials cut the ribbon to formally open the Reading Promotion Festival Entrance Gate, followed by a commemorative group photo session.
Next, during the ceremony, students from Basic Education High School No. (1), Zeyathiri Township, performed the patriotic song “Zatiman” and the song “Let’s Go to the Library”, adding vibrancy to the event.
After the performances, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo delivered the address, in which he spoke about the reasons for organizing reading promotion festivals in basic education schools, efforts to develop libraries, and the benefits students gain from reading. He expressed his wish to see similar reading promotion festivals continuously held in basic education and higher education institutions through collective cooperation.
Continuing the program, Chairman U Than Tun Oo donated library funds and books for the sustainable development of school libraries and the Council members presented certificates of honor to donors who contributed as well as to writer Ye Mon Kyaw, who gave a talk on “The Benefits of Reading”.
Afterward, Chairman U Than Tun Oo and officials toured the exhibitions displaying beautiful photographs of Myanmar, collections of books and publications, and various sports and intellectual competition activities in which students enthusiastically participated, it’s reported.
