UK PM defends budget, finance minister, and calls for stronger ties with EU

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer defended the recent budget and Finance Minister Rachel Reeves’ handling of pre-budget revenue estimates, rejecting claims that the figures were misleading. He announced social security reforms and emphasized the need to strengthen economic ties with the European Union. Starmer highlighted the government’s efforts to reduce child poverty and raise the national minimum wage.

The Prime Minister called for welfare state reforms to help young people access work and training. He also noted that Brexit has created economic challenges that need addressing.
