Tajikistan HIV funding cuts

UNAIDS’ new report, ‘Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response’ documents the impact the funding cuts are having around the world notably in Tajikistan. About 60 per cent of the HIV response in Tajikistan depends on international donors, of which about 20 per cent was funded by the United States President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief until January 2025.

National authorities estimated that even a 10–20 per cent reduction in funding could trigger a 135 per cent increase in the number of new HIV infections and a five per cent increase in mortality, erasing years of gains.
