Opening of the Marrakech Film Festival in Morocco

The 22nd Marrakech International Film Festival officially kicks off with a red carpet ceremony in Morocco, welcoming a host of big screen stars, including Egyptian actor Hussein Fahmy and South Korean director Bong Joon-ho. Meanwhile, Bill Kramer, CEO of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, said that "this festival is an important partner" for the Oscars. 

Bill Kramer, Chief Executive Officer of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences: said  "The Academy has a great partnership with Marrakech Film Festival. The Academy is becoming more and more global, our membership is becoming more global, and this festival is an important partner for us, especially as we want to engage more and more with Middle Eastern and North African filmmakers." 

This 22nd edition presents a rich and varied program, bringing together films from more than thirty countries. Marrakech continues to position itself as a hub for global cinema, providing a space where stories from across the world intersect with Moroccan creativity, culture, and audience engagement.
