Rule of Law: Combating online scam and illegal gambling

Myanmar authorities continued large-scale operations against online scam and illegal gambling centers in KK Park and Shwe Kokko areas. Security forces demolished 10 more illegal buildings in Section 3 of KK Park on November 27.

In total, 108 buildings in Section 3 and 256 buildings across all of KK Park have been destroyed so far. Since operations began on November 18, authorities inspected 59 more buildings, including houses, warehouses, shops, hotels, and KTVs.

No suspects were found, but they seized 120 phones, 212 computers, and various equipment. A total of 109 illegal buildings have now been identified in Shwe Kokko, with 21 already sealed off to prevent reuse. Across both areas, authorities have seized 3,310 computers, 21,870 mobile phones, 102 Starlink devices, 22 routers, large amounts of other equipment, and 2,042 foreign nationals living illegally were found and are being processed. Foreigners are being held at a secure facility in Myawaddy Township while documents are checked.

From January 30 to November 27, Myanmar detained 12,882 illegal foreign entrants.10,029 have already been repatriated via Thailand, and 2,853 more are ready to be sent back. The government says it will continue these operations with help from neighboring countries to eliminate online scam activities in Myanmar.
