The second day of “Science Festival 2025”, jointly organized by the State Atomic Energy Corporation of the Russian Federation (ROSATOM) and the Ministry of Science and Technology, continued on November 25, at the Nay Pyi Taw Council’s Naypyitaw State Polytechnic University (NSPU).

Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw and officials, representatives from Russia’s ROSATOM, and officials from Russia’s National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (Moscow Engineering Physics Institute) attended and observed the event.

In the morning session, the Union Minister, together with officials and students, visited the areas where university students were showcasing their project displays, the art exhibition room, and the assembly hall where short documentary films from “The Science Movies Almanac” were being screened.

After that, students who attended the event asked questions, to which Russian experts and Myanmar experts responded and held discussions. Around 100 Grade-5 students from basic education high schools enthusiastically participated in the “DIY Science Session”, where they practiced hands-on scientific and technological activities.

The session aimed to help young people gain closer familiarity with the world of science, develop foundational engineering skills, and enhance their knowledge and creativity. An educational talk on Small Modular Reactors (SMR) and small nuclear power plants was held, during which Russian experts explained that SMRs are systems built with safe and reliable technologies, and that they include mechanisms capable of automatically shutting down safely in the event of natural disasters.

Afterward, in the HackAtom competition, 10 teams competed under the theme “Small modular nuclear reactors as a basis for industrial development of the region.” The awards were presented by officials to the winning teams, it’s reported.
