S.Korea Ambassador on Combating Technology Persons Trafficking

“Traffickers exploit conflict, economic hardship, and digital platforms to expand their networks, while victims suffer forced labor, sexual exploitation, and other forms of abuse,” said South Korean Ambassador Cha Jihoon delivering a joint statement on “Combating Technology-Facilitated Trafficking in Persons.”

He said, “They are deeply concerned by the rise in technology facilitated trafficking in persons, including but not limited to online scam operations and other forms of transnational organized crime. This is evident from mounting evidence, including from Rail Odyssey, which documents these operations and the organizations, countries and individuals that deceptively recruited people to perpetrate these criminal schemes, subjecting them to forced criminality, torture and severe exploitation.”
