Fifteen years after its creation, Paris street art project “Mausoleum” by Lek and Sowat opened to the public on the city’s outskirts. Nearly 30,000 square meters of a former supermarket were transformed by invited artists. The site features layered murals and graffiti from multiple generations of street artists.
Remnants of the building’s past are incorporated into the artworks. Artists often improvised on walls, creating ephemeral compositions. The exhibition highlights interaction between art and space. Visitors can explore the transformed supermarket and its historic context. The project has inspired later urban art initiatives in Paris.
