Better Facility : New dormitory opened at the University of Pharmacy

Union Minister for Health Professor Dr. Thet Khaing Win attended the opening ceremony of the new women’s dormitory Gant Gaw Hostel at the University of Pharmacy in Yangon on Sunday.

After formal  opening of the new four-storey hostel, the Union Minister and party toured the new building. At the consequent ceremony held in the multipurpose hall, the Union Minister said highlighted that improving education and health is a national priority and that safe and supportive student accommodation helps universities achieve higher global standards.

He also noted that Myanmar continues to produce thousands of health professionals each year and that the government is working to upgrade health facilities, staff housing, and student hostels. The Rector expressed appreciation, followed by the handing over of the building documents to the Department of Human Resources for Health.

The ceremony also included performance of songs and dances, as well as the display of student-made medicines, cosmetics, and research works. The newly opened Gant Gaw Hostel is a four-storey building constructed in the 2024–2025 fiscal year, costing 1,836 million kyats, and can accommodate 110 female students.
