The UN climate change conference COP30 ended on Saturday. An adopted agreement document sets targets for financial assistance to developing countries.
But it does not address efforts to draw up a schedule to phase out fossil fuels. The meeting in the Brazilian city of Belem started on November 10, and its duration was extended before participants in a plenary session adopted a modified document.
The text calls for efforts to at least triple the financing available by 2035 to help developing countries adapt to climate change. The previous timetable in a draft agreement was by 2030. COP31 will be hosted by Türkiye next year in the Mediterranean city of Antalya.
