Cypriot Leaders Meeting was held at the residence of Khassim Diagne

Following the presidential election held on 19 October in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), the first contact with the Greek Cypriot administration has taken place. TRNC President Tufan Erhürman and the leader of the Greek Cypriot Administration, Nikos Christodoulides, met in the buffer zone on Thursday.

The meeting was held at the residence of Khassim Diagne, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of the UN Peacekeeping Mission. During the informal meeting, sub-topics of the Cyprus issue were discussed. Maria Holguin Cuéllar, the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy, also joined the meeting via video conference.
