Opening of IFRS Batch-2: UAG and Chair of MAC delivered opening speech

The opening ceremony of the Diploma in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Batch-2, Level-II, organized by the Myanmar Accountancy Council, was held at the Nawarat Hall of the Union Auditor General's Office in Nay Pyi Taw on November 19, using a hybrid system.

At the ceremony, the Union Auditor General and the Chair of Myanmar Accountancy Council, Dr. Khin Naing Oo, urged participants to diligently study the lessons being taught for the development of Myanmar's financial reporting system.

She emphasized that this course would provide knowledge of international accounting standards and expertise needed to prepare financial statements in compliance with global norms. This includes understanding the principles of IFRS, the benefits of their application, relevant accounting entries, methods of accounting, valuation techniques, and disclosure requirements appropriate to their respective business natures.

She also encouraged them to share and practically apply the acquired knowledge and expertise in their workplaces to further disseminate accounting knowledge, and to continuously study and adhere to the evolving standards. Following this, the in-charge of the Nay Pyi Taw branch of Union Auditor General's Office's Advanced Accountancy and Auditing Training School explained the details regarding the training course.

This course will cover ten international accounting standards for both the public and private sectors. A total of 30 trainees including 8 from the Union Auditor General's Office and 22 from 16 ministries will attend. The course will run for over three months, from November 17, 2025, to January 22, 2026, it’s reported.
