




The signboard installation ceremony for the successful and vibrant holding of the 2025 December Public Sports Month collective walking events, led by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, was held at the right side of the main gate of the Wunna Theikdi Sports Ground in Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on November 18.
Union Minister for the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism Jeng Phang Naw Taung attended and delivered remarks. First, the Union Minister stated that walking is the best medicine for each individual to keep the entire nation healthy and strong.
Among the many physical exercises and sports activities, walking is the easiest and simplest. If practiced daily and regularly, it is highly beneficial for every human being. He mentioned that the State has designated December as Public Sports Month, and the Ministry is organizing public walking events with mass participation nationwide.
Following his remarks, to ensure the successful holding of the commemorative collective walking events for December Public Activities on the upcoming dates of December 6, 13, 20, and 27, the signboard was sprinkled with scented water led by Union Minister.
Then, the Deputy Ministers, the Director-General, and officials continued the sprinkling of scented water and conducted the signboard installation ceremony. Afterwards, they inspected the route conditions and the tracks where the collective walking events will take place.
Furthermore, with the aims of supporting National Fitness – the health and strength of the entire nation, fostering happy and united solidarity among staff from various ministries, and enabling them to carry out their assigned duties more actively and vibrantly, they inspected Training Grounds No. 1, 2, 3, and 4 where competitions such as Tug of War (Men/Women), Htoke See Toe (border crossing game), and running races (100m, 200m, 400m, 800m) will be held as part of the Inter-Ministerial Sports Competitions commemorating the 78th Independence Day in 2026.
Then, the Union Minister instructed the responsible officials on the need to pre-arrange and prepare seating arrangements for marking the competition areas for each sport, for the successful holding of the competitions, and for staff from ministries to be able to attend and support in an orderly manner. He also instructed the responsible officials to prioritize grass cutting work to keep the sports ground clean, tidy, and beautiful, it’s reported.
