Annual Meeting of MFPEA: MoI UM delivered opening speech via the Virtual System

The 14th Annual General Meeting of the Myanmar Food Processors and Exporters Association (MFPEA) was held at the office of  (UMFCCI) in Lanmadaw Township, Yangon Region on Tuesday.

Union Minister for Industry, Dr. Charlie Than, attended the meeting virtually via the Virtual System from the Meeting Hall of Office No. (30) of the Ministry of Industry in Nay Pyi Taw. According to the agenda, the Chairman of Myanmar Food Processors and Exporters Association delivered a welcome address.

Subsequently, the Union Minister for Industry delivered the opening address. He stated that the food production and export sector plays a vital and indispensable role as a key driver for country's economic development. He mentioned that the food production sector, connecting from land-based agriculture and livestock farming to modern industries, contributes a significant proportion to the country's GDP.

He also noted that while the food sector has seen successes, it currently faces major challenges due to the global situation. He emphasized the need to accelerate improvements in quality standards, packaging, and labeling to penetrate international markets.

Following this, the Yangon Region Government Minister for Economic Affairs and the Chairman of UMFCCI delivered remarks. The General Secretary then read and presented the 2024-2025 Annual Report and the Audited Financial Statement.

The Audit Report was read and submitted. Questions and suggestions previously sent by food industry entrepreneurs were addressed, and confirmations and decisions were made. The Chairman of Myanmar Food Processors and Exporters Association delivered the concluding remarks, after which the ceremony was concluded.
