Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn attended the Global Governance Initiative (GGI) Forum and the 2025 Fourth Quarter China-Myanmar Media Exchange, organized by the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, on the morning of November 17 at the Wyndham Hotel in Yangon.

First, an interview video featuring three experts from the United States, Singapore, and the United Kingdom discussing global governance initiatives was shown.

Subsequently, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Myanmar, Ms. Ma Jia, stated that China will firmly safeguard the UN-centered international system and the international order based on international law. It will support a just and equitable multipolar world and oppose unilateral sanctions and illegal taxation. China will build an open, cooperative, and mutually beneficial world economy, promoting inclusive economic globalization so that the fruits of modern development can broadly benefit the Global South.

She expressed hope that media, expert groups, and artists from China and Myanmar would actively share the Global Governance Initiative, acting as promoters, guides, and builders to create favorable public opinion and a social environment for its implementation.

Following this, Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn delivered remarks, stating that the future of Myanmar must be carved out and shaped by the people of Myanmar themselves. He noted that initiatives like the GGI are found to be highly practical for creating a peaceful and prosperous future for the people of all countries, including Myanmar, and for fostering mutual respect for sovereignty. He urged all nations worldwide, including neighboring and regional countries, to base their actions on unity and fairness, avoid hegemonic and domineering practices, reduce and cease wars and conflicts. He called on powerful nations to show empathy and consideration towards weaker nations, providing support and assistance with solidarity to strive towards becoming peaceful and harmonious regions. He emphasized learning from past events to collectively strive and build a peaceful world.

Regarding Myanmar, he stated that Myanmar will continue to enhance the bilateral friendship with China, and expressed the hope to continue standing and interacting as good neighbors in the future. Afterwards, Chinese and Myanmar media representatives continued their discussions on the Global Governance Initiative and the 2025 Fourth Quarter Forum.
