Magic of Peace: 5th Southeast Asia Video Festival for Children

With the theme of “Magic of Peace, the 5th Southeast Asia Video Festival for Children was held at Mandarin Hotel, in Bangkok of Thailand on 14th November.

Founding Chairperson of Southeast Asia Video Festival for Children and President of Anak TV of the Philippines ELVIRA YAP GO and Thai media educator, producer, and Managing Director of Be Amazing Edutainment Ms. Warinnet Termsirikamol graced the opening ceremony with speeches.

It was followed by panel discussions on “The Content Children Want to Watch”, “Shaping Young Minds: Teachinbg kids to be good storytellers of peace”, “Deep Drive into the Ecosystem of Youth and Children’s Media, and Collaborative Pathways toward the Sustainability of ASEAN Children’s Media” and “Creative Melting Pot”.

Meanwhile, program screening, workshops, kids jury deliberation to choose 9 video finalists and the Governing Board meeting were held. The 5th Southeast Asia Video Festival is the celebration of creativity of young story tellers so also the aspiring and professional video makers. With their wisdom and encouragement help shape a generation that values truth, kindness and harmonious coexistence across ASEAN, building bridges of connection and handing over the power of creation.

In the evening Cultural Night, cultural performances were presented by 9 SEAVFC member countries: BRUNEI, INDONESIA, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, MYANMAR, the PHILIPPINES, SINGAPORE, THAILAND and VIETNAM.

On the 15th, the award ceremony was held at Phoenix Auditorium where professional non-fiction and fiction videos, aspiring video makers, and children video makers were awarded. The 6th Southeast Asia Video Festival will be held in Indonesia and the theme will be selected with the consent of ASEAN Governing Board members.
