The effects of high temperatures and insufficient rainfall have become visible in Lake Van in Ünseli neighborhood of Muradiye district, Türkiye, significant water recession has occurred due to drought and excessive evaporation in the lake.

As the water receded, a historic wooden pier — long submerged beneath the lake’s surface — reemerged after many years. The wooden pillars of the pier can now be clearly seen about 500 meters from the current shoreline. It is known that the pier once served as an important point for transportation across Lake Van.
