Japan, S. Korea leaders agree on future-oriented relations

Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae held her first summit with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung in Gyeongju, South Korea where the APEC summit will be held. At the beginning of the meeting, Takaichi said she is convinced it would be beneficial for the two leaders to develop a future-oriented relationship in a stable manner based on the foundation that has already been laid.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and South Korea. President Lee said there is much common ground between Japan and South Korea and that they can resolve all manner of domestic and international issues if they share experiences and cooperate with each other.
