Akyaka Named Among the World’s Best Tourism Villages

UN Tourism recognized Akyaka for its nature, architecture, and sustainable charm. The coastal town of Akyaka in Turkiye, has been named one of the World’s Best Tourism Villages by the United Nations World Tourism Organization.

Nestled on the eastern edge of the Gökova Gulf and known for its distinctive wooden architecture, tranquil atmosphere, and turquoise waters, Akyaka earned the title for its commitment to sustainable tourism and preservation of local heritage. The village, also designated as a Cittaslow (slow city), is celebrated for its harmony between nature and modern life — offering pristine beaches, traditional houses, and opportunities for water sports like kite surfing.
