Bolivia's president-elect, Rodrigo Paz, reiterated his willingness to reestablish bilateral relations with the United States and strengthen relations with other countries. Paz has specifically vowed to repair relations with Washington, which had been strained for years under the Movement Toward Socialism party’s rule.

He is actively looking to coordinate with the US and “other friendly countries” to help tackle Bolivia’s severe economic crisis, particularly to ensure the import of much-needed fuel (gasoline and diesel). Paz, a centrist senator, won the presidential runoff on October 19, 2025, ending nearly two decades of leftist rule in Bolivia. He is scheduled to take office on November 8, 2025.
