Sumo wrestling returns to London after 34 years

Sumo wrestling has returned to London for only the second ever five-day basho outside of Japan in the sport’s 1500-year history.

Last held at the Royal Albert Hall in 1991, The Grand Sumo Tournament sees rikishi return to the UK capital where they will compete in multiple bouts each night. Japan's elite sport will return to Europe in 2026, for a two-day event in Paris.
