The Bangladeshi government has launched a nationwide typhoid vaccination campaign, aiming to immunize about 50 million children between the ages of nine months and 15 years. The month-long drive will provide free injectable typhoid vaccines until Nov.13.

The campaign aimed at to reduce deaths and disabilities caused by vaccine-preventable diseases among children, adolescents, and women of reproductive age. Drug-resistant typhoid has now become a global health concern as many common antibiotics are losing their effectiveness.
