French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu visited a police station in Haÿ-les-Roses, in the suburbs of Paris, after French President Emmanuel Macron reappointed his loyal lieutenant late on Friday evening. Lecornu now faces the task of forming a cabinet to present a 2026 draft budget on Monday.

His new government is already at risk, after his reappointment provoked outrage across the political spectrum and pledges to vote it down at the first chance. Lecornu has pledged to do "everything possible" to give France a budget by the end of the year, saying restoring the public finances was "a priority" for the future.
