Floods exceed historic levels in northern rivers, Viet Nam

Severe flooding persists in low-lying riverside areas, some providences in Viet Nam. Water levels on the Cầu River remain above alarm level 3, with the Trung River still exceeding historic flood levels. Water levels in the outskirts of Hanoi continue to rise.

Flooding is forecast to persist for at least 2 to 3 more days and the outskirts of Hanoi. River levels continued to rise or remain high due to heavy rainfall from the previous days. The flooding has resulted in eight deaths, five missing persons, and seven injuries. Nearly 17,000 homes have been inundated, and relief teams are still working to reach flood-isolated communities.
