A blaze erupted at a warehouse storing equipment for the popular nightclub Route 66 Bangkok, late Monday afternoon. Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control within 30 minutes. However, the burning of soundproofing and other club materials released toxic gases into the area, making the operation difficult.

Director of the Bangkok Fire and Rescue Department, said that employees first noticed flames inside the storage facility around 5.10 PM local time and attempted to extinguish the fire with portable extinguishers. However, the fire spread quickly due to the flammable materials stored inside. Route 66, one of Bangkok’s most iconic nightclubs, has been a landmark on Royal City Avenue (RCA) since 1996, attracting both Thai and international partygoers for nearly three decades.
