Migrant's body recovered from canal in northern France

French authorities recovered the body of a migrant from a canal in Gravelines, northern France, after a deadly attempt to cross the English Channel. Two Somali women died on Friday night, and two more women died on Saturday morning while trying to reach the UK by makeshift boat.

About 100 people took part in the crossing, with 60 rescued and currently receiving care from civil protection services. A couple and their child, suffering from moderate hypothermia, were hospitalized in Boulogne. The incident occurred south of the beaches of Neufchâtel-Hardelot in the Pas-de-Calais region. At least 25 people have died so far this year attempting the dangerous Channel crossing in small boats.
