More than 55,000 athletes participated in the 51st Berlin Marathon on Sunday, starting and finishing near the Brandenburg Gate.

Kenya dominated the elite races, with 29-year-old Sabastian Sawe winning the men’s event and Rosemary Wanjiru taking the women’s title. The marathon drew hundreds of thousands of spectators who lined the course.

The event blended top-level competition with mass participation, allowing athletes to chase personal bests or simply complete the course. The marathon continues to attract international runners and spectators, maintaining its status as one of the world’s major long-distance races.
