Residents flee Gaza City as Israel ramps up offensive

Residents in Gaza City are fleeing their homes night and day as the Israeli military ramps up its offensive there. Israeli forces have intensified their strikes across the city, located in the northern part of the Gaza Strip. Israel claims it is the last major stronghold of Hamas.

On Tuesday, Israel ordered a complete evacuation of the city, which is said to have nearly 1 million residents. People were told to go to an area that Israel has designated as a "humanitarian zone" in the southern part of the strip. The Israeli military estimates that 250,000 people, which is a quarter of the residents in Gaza City, had evacuated by Saturday.
