Japan - Portugal summit talks

Japan’s Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru and Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro have pledged to further develop economic relations between the two countries on Thursday. Ishiba began the meeting by saying that Japan and Portugal have a history of friendship and cooperation spanning more than 480 years.

He added that there are many Japanese words that originate from Portuguese. In response, Montenegro said the two countries have enjoyed a long-standing friendship and deep cultural ties, added that he hopes to further develop bilateral relations. The two leaders also exchanged views on regional situations.
