Leaders and participants gathered on Monday for the second Africa Climate Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia highlighting the urgency of tackling climate change and its impacts on the continent.

During the opening ceremony, Kenya's President William Ruto stated "No nation could solve this crisis alone. Only through bold, united and sustained collaboration could avert climate catastrophe,".

Chairperson of the African Union Commission also stated "Biodiversity in Africa was under threat and was sliding inexorably towards species extinction unless the trend was urgently reversed. Today, the link between climate and underdevelopment is beyond doubt."
