




The Nepali government has decided to shut down social media platforms not registered with the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, a government official said on Thursday.
The ministry has directed the Nepal Telecommunications Authority to stop the operation of the platforms that have refused to register within its latest seven-day deadline, said the spokesperson for the ministry.Despite repeated calls from Nepal, only TikTok, Viber, Nimbuzz, WeTalk and Poppo Live have registered with the ministry, and the government set a seven-day deadline again on Aug. 27.
