A British aircraft carrier has made a port call at Tokyo in a move demonstrating the UK's stance of active involvement in the Indo-Pacific region. HMS Prince of Wales, the flagship of a carrier strike group, arrived at the Tokyo International Cruise Terminal on Thursday. It had participated in joint drills with Japan and other countries in the West Pacific in early August.
Japanese media were allowed their first access to the interior of HMS Prince of Wales. The carrier is Britain's largest ever, it can carry up to 36 F-35B stealth fighter jets. The vessel is also equipped with a flight deck that enables up to four fighters to take off in the space of around three minutes.
