The Hong Kong Bird Watching Society staged its first-ever bird call contest on Saturday with people taking to the stage to mimic the rhythmic calls of the koel, brown fish owl, and Asian barred owlet. About 100 participants joined the event which aims to raise ecological awareness. Despite its relatively small size, more than 580 types of birds - about a third of China's total species - have been recorded in Hong Kong.
