Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla said his experience on the International Space Station will be "extremely useful" for India's own indigenous crewed mission planned for 2027 under the sky craft program. A test pilot with the Indian Air Force, Shukla recently became the second Indian to travel to space and the first to reach the International Space Station.

He also stated “during the two weeks on the ISS, their primary responsibility was to carry out experiments that had been conceived, developed, and realized by researchers. They also conducted STEM demonstrations and captured photographs and videos to bring back for the public. That was the main purpose of their time aboard the station."
