Modi, Putin discuss global, bilateral issues over phone

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a phone call from Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday. The two leaders discussed recent global developments and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the India-Russia strategic partnership. Putin shared his assessment of his recent meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Alaska.

Modi reiterated India’s stance favouring peaceful resolution of global conflicts through diplomacy and dialogue, and expressed support for efforts promoting peace and stability. Both sides reviewed bilateral cooperation to further strengthen the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership and agreed to remain in close contact.
