A male snow leopard cub, “Ling Xiaomang,” rescued from the wild in June, is recovering well at Xining Wildlife Park in Qinghai Province, northwest China.
The cub, found near death in Jiuzhi County with severe injuries and weakness, was the second snow leopard rescued by the Qinghai Wildlife Rescue and Breeding Center this year. After months of medical care, the cub regained the ability to eat independently and walk steadily. On Tuesday, it was transferred to the park’s snow leopard pavilion to continue rehabilitation, focusing on muscle strengthening, mobility, and overall health.
Snow leopards are under top-level national protection in China, mainly in Qinghai, Xizang, Gansu, Sichuan, and Xinjiang. Conservation efforts have helped their population grow, with over 1,200 individuals now monitored.
